The amazing art for this dragon scarf was created by TeaKitsune a.k.a. Sarah Graybill of Tea Fox Illustrations from Hamburg, USA. She says of this piece:

“A young fox girl curls up next to a gentle golden dragon. This is the closest she’s been to good luck and fortune, and in this she finds solace.”

That’s a very beautiful sentiment for such a beautiful painting. When the artist speaks about a ‘young fox girl’, she is talking about a kitsune. Read more below.

Kitsune

Kitsune (in the literal sense) is the Japanese word for fox. Foxes / kitsune are a common subject of Japanese folklore and many tales depict foxes as intelligent beings that may possess paranormal abilities. According to Yōkai folklore, foxes have the ability to shapeshift into human form. Common forms assumed by kitsune include beautiful women, young girls (as is the case with this girl), and elderly men. Kitsune are particularly renowned for impersonating beautiful women and a common belief in medieval Japan was that any woman encountered alone, especially at dusk or night, could be a kitsune!

This amazing Kitsune fox dragon design can be purchased on a wide range of different items including homewares, bags, prints for your home, gifts for the dragon fans in your life and much more.
